Hi there! My name is Steve. I was born and raised in Maryland and received Jesus as my Lord and savior when I was 15. I grew up in a home that was very missions-minded, which means that I attended amazing mission conferences, potlucks, and life-changing presentations in visionary churches. Through all of this incredible exposure, I sensed a call to missions as a high school student. I wasn’t sure how God could use me, but I learned about opportunities for missionary teachers, so I decided to study music education at Asbury University. I met my wife, Amanda, at Asbury and after working three years in the US, we moved to the mission field and served with AIM at Rift Valley Academy (RVA), a school for the children of missionaries who serve throughout Africa.
At RVA, I had the privilege of teaching 6th grade through 12th grade instrumental music. What a cool job where I got to know students for 6-7 years in my classroom. After serving for 3 years, I returned to the states for graduate studies in leadership for evangelism and discipleship so that I could be better equipped for mission work. Upon finishing my studies, we returned to RVA with a strong desire to have a discipleship mindset saturate all of our roles at the school. We have served with AIM for 30 adventure-filled years and were blessed with 4 children; one is with Jesus and 3 are now living in the US.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to teach so many fantastic students while at RVA, but God has recently led me to help equip people that He is mobilizing for His harvest. As the Midwest Mobilizer, I am excited to be able to come alongside members of the Body of Christ who are interested in taking the Good News to the unreached of Africa. Maybe this is you. I would I really enjoy talking with you and pursuing your involvement in missions.
